What does it look like when a great, prosperous, Western city descends into third-world status? Chicago shows you what to expect as Western civilization continues along its current path. And the most disturbing truth is that you see these same signs throughout the Western world – America, Europe, Australia and Canada.
Here are the seven signs Chicago is now officially a third-world city:
1. Total Bloodbath: 3 Murders Every Single Day
In August alone, there were 90 murders, which equates to 3 murders every, single, day. The crime plaguing Chicago should come as no surprise to anyone paying attention to American cities. According to the New York Times, Chicago’s crime problem is spiraling out of control:
More than 2,300 shootings have taken place so far this year, mostly on the South and West Sides and most of them involving African-Americans.
Chicago has some of the toughest gun laws in America, but it makes absolutely no difference. The criminals will continue killing each other, regardless of gun laws, anti-violence campaigns, or which party holds political office. Chicago’s crime problem isn’t going away. This is the direction Western civilization is headed.
2. Massive Corruption and Financial Fraud
Chicago has long been considered the most corrupt city in America. It leads the nation in government officials who have been convicted of corruption. It is fitting that America’s current president, Barack Obama, was a former Chicago politician.
Just like any other third-world country, corruption is a way of life for many Chicago residents. Recently over 140 Chicago stores were busted for fraud involving “food stamps” – which is the government subsidized food program. According to Breitbart,
The number of black households on food stamps has risen 58.2 percent since 2008. And while the U.S. government has been cracking down on fraud and abuse, store owners are still tempted to illegally exchange cash for food stamps.
The trend is clear – an explosion in the number of people completely dependent upon the government. Meanwhile, the taxpayers financially supporting what is left of this once great city are rapidly diminishing.
3. Exploding Taxes
Chicago has some of the highest taxes in the country, especially taxes on property. Chicago’s ever-increasing taxes are forcing people and businesses to flee in droves. As more people become completely dependent on the government – which is the norm in Chicago’s inner city – the burden on taxpayers continues to climb. Government workers, healthcare, and pensions also add financial pressure to the city.
4. Declining Industry
Chicago is one of the many “rust belt” American cities that have seen a major decline in their manufacturing industry. Just like Detroit, free trade agreements have ravaged Chicago’s industrial core, leaving thousands unemployed and destroying much of the middle class. While there are many reasons for Chicago’s economic decline, “free trade” is one of the biggest factors.
5. Failing Schools
Like most of America’s large cities, Chicago public schools are failing miserably. Studies have revealed that a majority of students in Chicago’s inner city do not even have “basic competence in reading, science and math.”
This is the sad reality for many American families. Imagine being a middle class family in Chicago and struggling to raise your kids. Private school is too expensive for most families, and yet the public schools are dangerous, poor, and rapidly falling behind Western standards.
Chicago just represents the larger trend for the United States – a country that continues to fall behind in international education standards.
6. Crumbling Infrastructure and Lead Poisoning
Crumbling infrastructure and the resulting health and safety problems are common in third-world countries in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. These problems are now also common to crumbling American cities such as Chicago and Detroit.
Thousands of residents have been exposed to dangerously high levels of lead in Chicago. Chicago’s water commissioner resigned in April 2016 following the results of lead contamination testing. Chicago schools and residential areas have also been plagued by lead contamination in soil.
7. The Great Exodus
With Chicago rapidly descending into third-world status, it’s no wonder so many people are fleeing the city. According to Chicagoist, people of all income classes are packing up and leaving in droves – contributing to an overall population decline.
This recent demographic shift is interesting to note when compared to the historic demographic changes of Chicago over the past 100 years.
The Disturbing Truth
The sad reality is that Chicago is not an isolated case. Much of America, and Western civilization as a whole, is rapidly descending into third-world status. People who wish to blame politicians or various political parties are completely missing the bigger picture – you’re stuck in a broken system. Western civilization is quickly sinking and there’s nowhere left to run.
